Sundarban Orphanage Mission is an education charity working across the Sundarbans. The NGO built its first school in Thakurchak village, 60 kms from Kolkata. Jalaluddin Gaza, a taxi driver and the founder, single headedly set up the West Sunderbans Welfare Association to serve as a base for his fight against illiteracy.
Swapnopuron Welfare Society was founded in the year 2012. They undertake several socioeconomic development programmes in the village of Katakhali, an obscure village 80 kms from Kolkata. Swapnopuron’s flagship venture was a pre-primary school. Students are engaged in sports, recreation, science, art, theatre and extracurricular activities. Counselling is provided to parents and children to enhance their confidence.
